Over The Limit Results

The third installment in the Over The Limit PPV proves to be a memorable night, not for the best reasons, but memorable none-the-less. 

We start with the Pre-Show:

Kane def Zack Ryder

Called It (but who didn't, really). This wasn't much of a match, the pre show matches haven't been great, but just manage to kill some time, this one not so much as it only lasted 10 minutes at the most. As before, I won't count the score of this match against the score of Over The Limit the PPV (not that that is going to help it much). 

People's Power Battle Royal to determine who will fight for either the IC or US Championship later tonight.

Christian wins Battle Royal

5/10 Not a bad start, actually a clever start to the show since this match began before the opening promo. Tyson Kidd actually impressed as on of the Final Four, but the returning Christian takes the win from The Miz.

Kofi & Truth def Zig-Swag to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship

5.5/10 Really the only thing keeping the score up this high, was just a reminder of how natural Ziggler looks in the ring. Don't get me wrong, Sawgger looked great, and Zig-Swag dominated the middle of the match, Kofi and Truth won because of a few high spots, like it always happens, but seeing Ziggler go to work on Truth in the middle of the ring, reminded me of why I love watching him in ring. Every night that's he's not in the main event is a true shame. 

Layla def Beth Phoenix to retain the Divas Championship

4/10 Oh man, what this match could have been. I was this close to awarding it a 6/10, then Layla started countering and fucking up all her moves. Watching Beth dissect a person is a great pleasure, she picked Layla apart limb by limb, then Layla starts fucking up counters and wins the match, it's just a shame.

Fatal 4 Way for the World Heavyweight Championship

Sheamus retains.

7/10 All four men in this match have tremendous talent, and all the styles clashed well together. Unlike most Fatal 4 Way and Triple Threat matches, this had, for the most part, three men in the ring, and it all worked very well. What resulted was an exciting match with amazing execution.

Brodus Clay def The Miz

4/10 I'm sorry, but again, I called it. The Miz put up a fight, but Brodus remains undefeated.  Once again Brodus claims the low point of the show, this time in the form of The Miz trying to out-dance Clay, it's just sad for everyone who has ever backed The Miz that it has come to this. 

Christian def Cody Rhodes to Win the IC Title

6.5/10 Man, I came close to calling this one, I predicted an unscheduled match between a returning Sin Cara defeating Rhodes for the title and we got an unscheduled match in which a returning Christain defeated Rhodes for the title. So close. I really like the pairing of these two, they work great together and had a tremendous match. I also LOVED Rhodes' Moonsault from the top rope, it reminded me of the first time Kurt Angle did that move, except without the broken arm.Just for funsies I thought I would bust out a picture of Rhodes almost 5 years ago when he debuted in the WWE with Hardcore Holly.

And a resent picture of him. 

Wow what a change. With the IC title off his waist, look for big things from Rhodes in the near future. (I know I've been saying that for a while, but the kid is due, he hasn't had a band match in forever, he's over like crazy, he can talk, he can fight. there is nothing Rhodes can't do right now. 

CM Punk def Daniel Bryan to retain the WWE Championship

9/10 This was the 5 Star match we were promised, it lived up to the hype in every way.Bot men have a tendency to bust out normally unseen moves and put their own variation on it, in this case Bryan put Punk in an amazing Mexican Surfboard and adjusted it to become spectacular and painful. I cannot wait for the rematch that you know will come after the ending of this one.

Ryback def Camacho

3/10  This was rather entertaining for a squash match, but again, I still have no idea whether I should love or hate Ryback, since he's done nothing but squash guys. He still has no personality, (just like when he was Skip Sheffeild) And what a crappy way for an in ring debut for Camacho. 

Big Johnny def John Cena

5/10 Again, you can see that I got so bored with John Laurnatis's last name, I'm just going to call him Big Johnny. First off, let me state that this should have never been considered for the main event of the show. They should have had this before the WWE Championship and ended the show on a high note. This was just a gloried way for the Big Show to turn heel, which has been done in matches in the past, but usually it's a midcard match. One high note I will give this "match" it was actually pretty funny. When Cena does commentary with Big Johnny as both Cole and Booker T, I laughed (I'll get to the commentary in a minute) All in all this was a waste of 20 minutes, 

6.13 Sadly enough this ranks third in the PPV's of the year, although I would recommend it last. The matches that were actual matches were really good, but it ended on such a low note, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. 

I'd like to talk for a second about another thing that really bugged me during the show, and has bugged me for a while now. The Commentary is just plain horrible. It used to be great, when it was JR. and The King, they had the perfect blend of play by play and color. Now, with Cole, King and Booker T, they have a play-by-play guy who keeps taking shots at everyone, commentators and talent alike in Cole, a color guy who is face, and doesn't have anything bad to say about the anyone execpt Cole in King and a color guy who you can't understand because he's making up words as he goes along in Booker T. Cole and King work decently alone on Raw, but when you add in Booker T on the PPV's, Cole spends most of his time ragging on Booker T, and he's right to do so, because Booker T is just a mess on commentary. Another reason Cole doesn't quite know his place is on Smackdown there is another play-by play buy in Josh Mathews, which along with Booker T and Cole, I don't know what's going on half the time on that show, but they need to sort it all out. 

Over The Limit Preview

Joe Vampire is in the bag (until an actor needs a line rewritten anyway), so I'll run down my picks for tonight's PPV real fast for you.

Kane vs Zack Ryder
This is the preshow match, so tune in to Youtube, facebook, or WWE.com @ 7:30 to watch it for free, even if you aren't getting the PPV. Ryder has a lot of anger towards Kane, but I don't see him being able to over come  him in an actual match. Kane via Pin.


Layla vs Beth Phoenix Divas Championship
I know there is some kind of story going on, I see then talking and looking angry at each other as a fast forward to a part of Raw I'll actually care about. This is Lalya's first PPV defense so I'll go with her. Layla via Pin.


Kofi & Truth vs Zig-Swag Tag Team Championship
As much as I love Ziggler and Swagger individually, I think they make a great tag team. But I don't know if I see them winning the tag titles. Even though they haven't done much with Ziggler despite his great main event showing at the Royal Rumble, I still think he's going to get a decent push in the next few months. Although, winning the Tag titles would be a nice mid sized push while the main event picture gets sorted out, but I don't see them taking the tag titles off Kofi and Truth so soon. I'm just going to stick with Kofi and Truth and hope I'm wrong.

With only 5 matches on the card, I'm betting on seeing a few unannounced matches, here's what I think we'll see.

Brodus Clay vs The Miz. Brodus, for some reason has been unstoppable, and The Miz, for some reason has barely been on TV. I expect The Miz to put up a fight, but ultimately lose. Brodus Clay via Pin.

Cody Rhodes vs Mystery Opponent. I was going to say Rhodes vs Big Show, but then I remembered he got fired. So I think Rhodes will come out, talking trash, calling out anyone and who will come out to challenge him? Sin Cara! If it's for the IC title then I think Sin Cara will probably win, if it's not he will definitely win. Sin Cara FTW.

Fatal 4 Way for the World Heavyweight Championship
I'm a fan of everyone involved, so it's hard to pick a winner, but when it comes down to it, I think I'll have to go with Sheamus, This is his first title defense, even though it's a huge challenge, I think he'll pull it off. Sheamus to retain.

D Bryan vs CM Punk WWE Championship
What amazing matches these two have had, both with other people and with each other, these last few months. This imo is a match of the year contender. Punk has had quite a title reign and I don't see it coming to an end just yet. Punk to retain.


John Cena vs Big Johnny
John L is so boring, I lost interest in trying to spell his last name, hence the Big Johnny. Why he is main-eventing this show is beyond me. And where are all the guys who were complaining about The Rock main-eventing Wrestlemania? The fact that JL is in the main event of anything bigger then a carnival sideshow is a slap in the face to every wrestler who's ever laced up their boots and busted their ass to get to the top of this industry, only to play second fiddle to this void of talent and charisma. He is still a better GM then Teddy Long though. The whole situation leading up to him becoming the GM of both Raw and Smackdown all started after Wade Barrett got injured right before WM, where he was going to win a MITB match. They had a bunch of guys with nothing to do now, so they came up with this ridiculous story line, gave the position to Big Johnny, and now they need an out, which is why Johnny will be fired after he losses tonight. John Cena to kick Big Johnny's ass.

Extreme Rules 12 Review

First off , I would like to apologize for posting this so late in the day, my internet has been giving me grief this whole weekend, and by the time I went to bed last night at 3am, I hadn't even finished watching the show. I also noticed that my WrestleMania 28 Review didn't post, so I will be redoing that this week. Now, onto the good stuff.

In the past the PPV after WrestleMania generally has a low buy rate, even though they have mostly been great shows, WWE tries to counter this trend by making all the matches gimmick matches, hence Extreme Rules. They also tried to counter it with the return of a huge name draw Brock Lesnar. We will see if this paid off in a few weeks when the buy rate comes in, but it was a success in the quality of matches.

Santino def The Miz to retain the United State Championship
This was the Pre Show, that aired on Youtube, WWE.com and facebook, and it was the first time the US Championship has been defended on a Pre Show, which kind of shows you where the title ranks in the WWE right now, if Dolph Ziggler was still champion the title defense would have happened during the show. It was a perfectly fine match, there where no slip ups to note, and it had a nice flow, I'm not going to rate it, because it wasn't part of the show, but if you didn't see it, you didn't miss anything.

Randy Orton def Kane in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
5.5/10 Based on the match they had at Wrestlemania, i was kind of expecting more from this match, but there wasn't really anything new or unique displayed, they basically fought in the ring, then went out of the ring, through the crowd, hitting each other, went to the back, threw each other into some backstage equipment, came back to the ring and ended the match. If I've seen one match like that, you've seen a thousand,  it was a wasted opportunity

Brodus Clay def Dolph Ziggler
5/10 This would be, what I consider, Brodus's first real match. He's been squashing guys left and right since his semi regular return, and this was the first time somebody actually gave him a fight. That being said, there wasn't a whole lot else going on, it was still a very short, standard issue match. The highlight of the match for me was the Chicago crowd chanting "Let's Go Ziggler!"

Cody Rhodes def The Big Show to win the Intercontinental Championship in a Tables Match
6.5/10 Going in, Cody is at even more of a disadvantage then normal since the idea of how does he get the Big Show through a tables rings loud and clear, the announcers might have mentioned that once or a thousand times. The finish was really quite clever and unexpected, Cody drop kicks Big Show while Show is on the edge of the ring, he steps backwards onto a set up table which breaks under his weight and Cody wins the match.

Sheamus def Daniel Bryan to retain the World Heavyweight Championship in a 2 out of # Falls Match
9/10 Yeah, it's that good. This match was the best match of the night, and it alone is worth the price of the DVD. It's the best 2 out of 3 Falls match I've seen since the 3 Stages of Hell match at No Way Out 2001. That's all I'm going to say about it. Watch It!

Ryback def 2 Jobbers
3/10 I don't know why they needed to show this match on a PPV, if they were running short of time, they should have put the US Championship match on the show, maybe even put a silly stipulation on it. At least with his squash match they tried to inject a bit of humor, they failed but at least they tried. I don't know if Ryback is supposed to be heel or face, because he's only squashed jobbers since his return (he was Skip Sheffeild of the Nexus) but he's now the third person who's only having squash matches right now, along with Brodus and Albert, I mean Lord Tensai. Do we really need three of these going on at the same time, when there is legit talent waiting to be called up from FCW? Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are ready to go and show be debuting very soon.

CM Punk def Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship in a Chicago Street Fight
7.5/10 A far departure from their wrestling classic at Wrestlemania this was an intense fight between two guys with a deep feud. The story building up to it was deeply personal and the match reflected it. Another can't miss match.

Layla def Nikki Bella to win the Divas Championship
2.5/10 Did you know Layla was gone? Cuz I didn't. The announcers seemed WAY more surprised by her return then the crowd did, it was hilarious. As soon as the Bellas came out and said that the crowd should get used to seeing them with the title, because they're going to be holding it for a long, long time, you know their title reign is about to end  This match was sloppy, but thankfully short, lasting only 3 minutes.

John Cena def Brock Lesnar in an Extreme Rules Match
7/10 If you've ever wanted to see John Cena get the crap kicked out of him, and I know you have, you should check out this match. Cena takes a BEATING from the moment the bell rings, getting busted open within the first minute. Brock doesn't really display any of the wrestling moves which lead him to a record of 106-5 in college, applying only one move, a Kimura Armbar. Cena really only hit three moves, a slam onto the steel steps to get out of the armbar, a punch to the face with a steel chain wrapped around his fist and an FU onto the steel steps for the win.

5.75/10 All in all it was a really good show, it lived up to the name of Extreme Rules, and will make a welcome addition to my extensive wrestling collection.

Extreme Rules Preview

I apologize for the lateness of this post, and the short duration of it ahead of time, I've got a tight deadline on my next script, and most of my free time has been devoted to that project. Now that the shameless plugging is complete let's look at the card for Sunday's PPV.

Diva's Championship Match
I honestly didn't know which of the Bella Twins had won the championship until I looked to see who was defending it just now. If the WWE was run on who deserved the title, then I would say Beth would regain the championship this Sunday, but it is not, so I'm picking Nikki, no wait, Brie, no I was right, Nikki Bella to win.

US Championship
Let's be honest, I'm a mark for The Miz, but for some reason Santino has been on fire with the WWE. I don't get it, but I'm going to go with it, as much as I want to pick Miz; Santino retains US Championship.

IC Championship
I was surprised by The Big Show's win at WM, aside from his back to back Tag Team Championships with Jerishow and ShowMiz, he hasn't held a title in a long time, (of course there was the World Heavyweight Championship but that wasn't a real championship, let's be honest). As with The Miz, I love everything Cody Rhodes is doing, I really hope that Goldust get's to have his final match with his brother at a PPV, but I don't see them taking the title off Big Show, or keeping Rhodes down at that level. As I said before I expect Rhodes to be World Champion by the Summer, and going back to the IC Championship would postpone that, so Big Show to retain the IC Championship.

Randy Orton vs Kane Falls Count Anywhere
Kane's WM win was a surprise, now they need to get Orton back on top, with a win in a FCA match, it will unleash the anger he has over Kane's attack on his father, and get him back to where he needs to be. Orton def Kane.

WWE Championship
I really like where this feud has gone, and i hope there is no end in sight. Jericho and Punk work great together and, while I would like to see them continue to show there technical proficiency, a Street Fight would reflect there feud better, I'm super psyched. CM Punk to retain the WWE Championship.

World Heavyweight Championship
I was among the thousands of fans who were upset by the less then stellar match Sheamus and D Bryan had at WM. I have since learned that WWE had nothing against D Bryan, the squash was only used to kick WM28 off with a surprise and a bang. Now is when they will have the match everyone expected them to have at WM, so look for this to be the match of the night. I still think Sheamus is going to retain, Bryan will get the title back in a few months, but Sheamus has worked his ass off to get back to the top, and he's going to stay there for a while. Sheamus to retain.

Cena vs Lesnar
What can I say about this match that hasn't been replayed a thousand times during Raw and Smackdown. Lesnar's 'demands' at the end of Raw on Monday were just a really sad attempt to make people dislike him, and it really made him look bad, because he's not a talker, nor has he ever been, so watching him fumble through line after line, was just painful to watch. I loved seeing Edge come out and talk to Cena at the start of the show, and I assume Cena coming out with the heavy chain means he's back to his old self, even though he didn't really change anything, he just brought out a chain, which I guess he was carrying with him, for some reason? Really doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you think about it, I mean did he pack the chain with him when he left his house for the show, like I'll bring this, just in case, you never know. Or did he find it back stage and just take it, in which case, is there a piece of heavy equipment that's just flopping around loose because Cena just took a chain he found, that could cause damage to countless people and cars on the road as they head to Chicago for Extreme Rules. I'm kidding of course. About the match, I think it makes a much more interesting story for Cena to start having a loosing streak, plus I don't by them bringing Lesnar back, only to have him loose to his first opponent, especially if (come on, it's on everybody's mind) Lesnar left the UFC after suffering two HUGE losses in a row, there's not way he's coming back to WWE with a loss right away. Lesnar Def Cena.

WrestleMania 28 Preview

Oh My God, It's finally here.

I can honestly say I haven't been this excited for a WrestleMania since WM25. The build up has been very well executed and the line up is top notch. so lets get right into it with the predictions.

The Triple Threat Tag Team Championship Match is an add on, there's no real story line building up to it, but having said that, The Usos have been work horses and I think it's about time they get some gold.
THE USO'S via PIN pinning PRIMO & EPICO


The Divas Match for the show is nothing more then an opportunity for some cross promotion as Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos take on Beth Phoenix and Eve. If there has been a story building this match up, I'm not aware of it, mostly because I do fast forward every time a Divas Match is on Raw or Smackdown. This is another missed opportunity for a great match and should have been Beth Phoenix vs Natalya for the Divas Championship. As ridiculous as it sounds, KELLY KELLY & MARIA MENOUNOS via PIN (most likely with Maria pinning Beth.


Randy Orton vs Kane is another match that seems to have fallen victim to them spending so much time on the other matches. I have no doubt this will be a solid match as both performers are very well versed in the ring, it's just at this point it's one of the more forgettable matches on the card, and in my opinion a waste of Orton's talent. RANDY ORTON via PIN.


The whole Team Teddy vs Team Johnny situation really bums me out, because I don't want either of these guys running both shows. Teddy Long hasn't done anything of note since he became the GM of Smackdown and John Laurinaitis has an actual vacuum of charisma. If I'm making my picks biased solely on the teams then Team Johnny blows Team Teddy out of the water, with Dolph, Swagger, The Miz, and Drew McIntire. Again, it feels kind of like a waste of Dolph and The Miz, they could have been having more memorable singles matches, but it is what it is. TEAM JOHNNY


The Intercontinental Championship is on the line as Cody Rhodes takes on The Big Show. At last years Wrestlemania, Cody had one of the best matches of the night with Rey Mysterio, and I fully expect he and Big Show to have a great match this year. Cody is currently the 9th longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time (just 7 days away from beating Shelton Benjamin's 244 day long reign) and I don't see them taking the title off him till the summer when they push him up to Main Event/ World Champion.

Sheamus was a surprise win at the Royal Rumble in my eyes, but it showed that WWE hadn't lost faith in him. After almost two years without holding a championship Sheamus got into the ring, day in and day out and did what he does best, have great matches and win. Daniel Bryan has been a great World Champion, and I like the slow burn heel turn he made, but as of late it seems that a first time champion holds the belt for a few months, drops it and gets dropped into near obscurity (Jericho in '02, Swagger, The Miz) Bryan will lose the belt, but he has the talent to not let the suits forget who he is, and he will be a champion again before the end of the year. Now for the Main Event Matches I've really been looking forward to.

When Jericho came back on the first Raw of 2012 I hoped and preyed that if Punk/Austin didn't happen this year, they would book Punk/Jericho. It's such an obvious choice for a surefire Match of the Year candidate. Both men are unmatched on the mic as well in in the ring and this one promises to be the best wrestling  match since Savage/Steamboat at WM 3. I have been a little disappointed with the build up, both men are amazing on the mic, they should have just given them both a mic and let them go, but for the last several weeks they have been moving the story forward by having Jericho address Punk via the TitanTron. As for the outcome, that's tough. Fozzy's European Summer Tour got canceled, and with that Jericho will now be more involved with the WWE and helping to push the talent. I still think Punk will retain the title, as much as I would love to see Jericho get the belt and become a 7 time champion. CM PUNK via SUBMISSION


What is there to say about the Undertaker's undefeated streak that hasn't been said a thousand times by a thousand different people. Myself I predicted the end of the streak only once, at WM24 against WWE's Golden Boy Edge. I was wrong then, and I haven't gone against the Undertaker since (even though I really wanted HBK to win both times). Triple H/Taker 3 will be the most brutal match of the night, but I still think Taker will pull out a win. I've heard rumors that this will be his last Wrestlemania, but not his last match, and while I don't know if this is true, or even if it's Taker they're talking about, it would make sense. Plus 20-0 is a nice even number for my OCD. UNDERTAKER via PIN


Once in a Lifetime, or more likely three times in the next year if the rumors are true, Rock vs Cena is Icon vs Icon, with both men in their prime. The Rock didn't even look this ripped when he was wrestling full time I'm not a fan of Cena. He has talent, as you can see by the number of great matches he's been a part of. I don't like his character. I hate Cena the rapper, I hate the stupid smile that never goes away. I hate that he's ok with us not liking him. That is why the Rock needs the mop the floor with him. Elimination Chamber 2012 Review

We are one step closer to Wrestlemania 28 as the Elimination Chamber PPV blows through Milwaukee for a historic night filled with great moments, a few surprises and some pretty good matches.

CM Punk retains the WWE Championship in the Elimination Chamber
6.5/10 If you read my Elimination Chamber preview post you would know that this was the match I was most looking forward to heading into the event, I was surprised the put it on first, but it makes sense for what happened after the second chamber match. Having said all that, i was actually kind of disappointed by the match, there where a lot of slow moments in between the high spots that just kinda dragged along and the whole match has lacking an sense of urgency. The paced picked up towards the end when it cam down to Miz and Punk as the final two, they meshed really well together despite a small hiccup in the program earlier in the match. After elimination Kofi, Jericho received a kick to the head by Punk which knocked it out, out of the cage and out of the match which sets up a great story line for Jericho to say that Punk never beat him and there you have their match at WM.

Beth Phoenix def Tamina via Pin
5/10 This Divas match actually wasn't that bad. The hits looked good, nobody flubbed any moves, I actually believed it when Tamina came close to winning. To be perfectly honest, I've never actually seen Tamina wrestle, and while I won't say i was blown away, I thought she did a good job. The one thing that did erk me was that the announcers keep saying how much Tamina reminded them of her father, 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka, the reason for this being that everything from her entrance to her finishing move is her fathers. When she enters the arena, she drops to one knee with her hands in the air, just like her dad, he finisher of course it the Superfly Splash, just like her dad, so of course she reminds you of him, because everything she does it a copy or homage to him.

Daniel Bryan retains the World Heavyweight Championship in the Elimination Chamber
8/10 I am happy to admit that I was wrong about the way this match shaped up, well, half wrong, Khali was worthless like I said he would be. For the majority of the match Santino did a great job as a punching bag, who knew he would end up in the final two? Big Show did good job as the monster, even coming after D Bryan while he was still in his pod. But the guys who really shinned were my top three. Barrett started the match and lasted nearly till the end and had a great showing. Cody Rhodes was at the top of his game landing two Beautiful Disaster kicks to Big Show while outside of the ring. And D Bryan looked great after getting beat down hard by Show.

Jack Swagger def Justin Gabriel via Pin
7.5/10 Here is your unannounced bonus match, and what a match it was. Even though it was short and sweet, it was a great match and really showed me that Swagger is back at the top of his game again. Justin Gabriel has so much potential, I can't wait to see how good he gets once he gets a few more years under his belt.

John Cena def Kane in an Ambulance Match
8/10 For only the second time in WWE history we have the brutal Ambulance Match where the only way to win is to load your opponent into the ambulance and have it drive away. The story between these two has been building for the last few weeks and you just knew they were going to beat the hell out of each other, and they did. They fought all around the crowd in the arena in what was probably John's best match since the Last Man Standing match against Del Rio back at Vengeance. In the end Cena did not turn to the dark side, he AA'd Kane off the roof of the Ambulance, did a flashy move for the fans and won the match.

Total Score: 7/10
Al in all a great event with out a single really bad match. So lets look at the points standings.
I did the best guessing 5 out of 5 correct which give me a total of 13.
Will didn't do quite as well scoring 4 out of 5 placing him in second with 12.
It wasn't a good night for Amanda as she scored on 2 out of 5, leaving her with 10.

Elimination Chamber 2012 Preview

The Road to Wrestlemania rolls through Milwaukee Wisconsin, for the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View this Sunday and here's a little run down of the scheduled matches. So far there are only 4 matches scheduled, but history shows there are usually 5 or 6 matches per show, so look for an unscheduled match or two. (5 bonus points if you guess the participants and who wins, my guess is Ted Dibiase taking on Hunico and winning again)

Beth Phoenix vs Tamina Snuka Divas Championship
I'm on the wall about this match, Tamina seems decent, although she really only seems to have one move, which she stole from her father, but she looks like a brawler and the two of them could have at least a decent looking match. I don't see Tamina getting the title yet and I think Wrestlemania will be Beth defending against either Natalya or Kharma (my personal hope is Natalya)

Kane vs John Cena Ambulance Match
Unlike everyone else it seems, I don't think Cena will turn heel before Wrestlemania. He's shown elevated aggression in the past, and I think this match will be no different, but I don't see him going back on his word, maybe he'll go to far beating up The Rock at WM and that will signify his turn, but I don't see it happening yet. I do how ever see him winning this match.

Smackdown Elimination Chamber Match.
Not since the ECW Extreme Rules Elimination Chamber match at December to Dismember 2006 have the participants in a chamber match varied so greatly.  Khali is way past his prime (if you could consider what he had as a prime) Santino is a joke entrant, The Big Show is intimidation, but as I hear it there are plans for him to face Shaq at WM 28. This shows just how shallow Smackdown's roster really is. Barrett, Rhodes, and Bryan are the ones to watch in this match, they all are on the cusp of greatness and will all be looking to prove themselves worthy of being the next top guy. As for who's going to win, my thoughts are that who ever wins this will be the one to face Sheamus at Wrestlemania, which in my mind means either Daniel Bryan or Wade Barrett. They took a huge chance and pulled the trigger with Bryan, giving him the title, something they haven't had the faith in Barrett to do yet, and i don't know if they're going to do it for WM. Even though Barreet and Sheamus have had good matches together, I think Bryan's slow heel turn will be completed and they'll have a great match at WM.

Raw Elimination Chamber Match
This will be the main event. Raw's got the top young guys in company right now, and this match should showcase them all doing what they do best. The top three to watch in this match are Ziggler, Jericho and Punk, which is not to say that Kofi, Miz and Truth won't shine, but Miz seems to have been on the WWE's shit list as of late, and Truth had a very poor showing in 2010, lasting less then 3 1/2 minutes. In 2010 Jericho won the Championship, and while I could see this happening again with Jericho entering the match last, leading to a rematch at WM, I see Punk pulling out with win and entering WM 28 as champion.

Royal Rumble 2012 Results

The Road to Wrestlemania is officially underway with a bit of an underwhelming Royal Rumble. There were a few high notes, but just as many lows, let's do this.

Daniel Bryan def Mark Henry & The Big Show by Escaping the Steel Cage.
6/10 Great match to start the night, a little short, but it had a great finish.

The Bella's, Beth Phoenix & Natalia def Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, Eve & Tamina vis Pin
2.5/10 One of the things that really sucks about doing this blog is that (on PPV's at least) I has to watch the Diva's match. This was another example of the Diva's running around not making any sense out of the match, and executing sloppy moves. And what took Kelly Kelly so long to jump off the top rope, that was one of the worst telegraphed moves I've ever seen because all the girls are just standing there, waiting for her to jump for like 30 seconds, it was ludicrous.

John Cena & Kane Fight to a Double Count Out
6.5/10 This match was a little more to my liking then the average John Cena fair. It was bare bones and hard hitting. I should have gone with my gut when I was predicting matches, oh well.

Brodus Clay def Drew McIntyre via Pin
3/10 One of the things I hate most is when the entrances take longer then the match itself, this is especially true with this match for two reasons: 1. The Brodus Clay entrance it the most embarrassing thing the WWE has put on television since Snooki pinning Michelle McCool at last years Wrestlemania. and 2. Drew McIntyre is supposed to be The Chosen One, and he's getting squashed by someone called The Funkasaurus. That's just sad.

7/10 As you may recall, this was the singles match I was most looking forward to as the two have very similar styles and are in such great condition that it could go on for hours, and they're so skilled at what they do, it would be compelling to watch them for hours. What we got instead was still a good match, but not as good as it could have been. The story line involving John Laurinaitis as guest referee overshadowed the story of the two men in the ring. Ziggler's quick comeback countering Punk's GTS with a rocker dropper had me thinking he might pull out a win, But Punk prevailed after a second GTS.

Sheamus wins the 2012 Royal Rumble match

Final Four: Sheamus, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton & The Big Show.

8.5/10 I am disappointed that Jericho didn't win, I'm sure he will at some point, maybe next year, that's really the only thing he has left to do in the WWE. I am overall pleased with how everything went down. The Miz did a great job lasting over 45 minutes being eliminated #23. Cody Rhodes also shinned, coming in at #4 and getting eliminated at #24. I'm not a particularly big fan of The Big Show, so to see him come in and knock out three of my favorite guys back to back to back was a little hard to watch, especially after they'd lasted as long as they had. As for the surprise entrants, it was kind of a mixed bag. actually, no it wasn't. I like seeing Road Dogg again, and Kharma coming back as only the third women to ever compete in the Rumble was cool. I didn't care to see Khali back, hopefully he won't be back full time. Nor did I like seeing Jim Duggan back, his return in 07-08 was the saddest thing I'd seen in a long time. I kinda liked seeing all three of the announcers getting in on the match, but all those slots could have gone to more deserving guys in the back, like Mason Ryan, Johnny Curtis or Michael McGillicutty. Another ting I really enjoyed was Mr. Socko vs The Cobra, that was hilarious. Also I liked Kofi's Riddler themed outfit and his unique way of staying in the match, since Morrison started that last year I think we'll be seeing something along those lines at each Rumble.

All in all it was decent show, but it still only gets a score of :

5.75/10 Not the best way to start the year in wrestling, but not the worst.

Royal Rumble Preview

Well, it's that time of year, again. The holiday's are over, everyone has already given up on their New Years Resolutions and the NFL Post season is in full swing. Which means the Road to Wrestlemania is underway. This Sunday St. Louis plays host to one of the biggest pay per views of the year, the Royal Rumble.

I'm going to make this a quick post about the event, along with my predictions because today is a very big day for me, tonight is the premier of a movie I wrote called The Housewife Slasher ( I know, I know, I didn't come up with the title so please don't hold it against me.) The previews and predictions are something I tried and meant to do last year, but to be honest a lot of the time I forgot there was a PPV until the night of, so I will try to be more on top of these things in the future.

Up first we has Daniel Bryan taking on The Big Show and Mark Henry in a Steel Cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan's slow heel turn has been working well for him in my opinion, and I expect his trend of finding a sneaky way out of losing the title will continue tonight.
D Bryan retains World Heavyweight Championship by Escaping the Cage. He'll probably sneak out while Show and Henry are going at it and neither one notices he's gone till it's too late.

Up next we're looking at Kane taking on John Cena. Cena's full of rage against Kane, and I half expect this one to end in a No Contest or a DQ with Cena beating Kane all the way to the backstage area. If That happens I would then say that Kane will get the last word throwing Cena into a car windshield or doing something to mess him up.  However, I'm going with my gut and calling it for Cena in the ring.

The final singles match on the card is the one I'm looking forward to the most, as Dolph Ziggler goes one on one with the Straight Edged One CM Punk. They had an amazing match last year on Raw after TLC and I fully expect this match to top that one. This will be the second year in a row that Ziggler has fought for a World title at the Royal Rumble, last year again Edge was #9 on the Top 10 Matches of the Year, I expect this one to be even higher on the list. Sadly though, even though I'm pulling for Ziggler, I think this one's going to go to Punk to retain. A lot of this ties in with my Rumble winner pick, but I also don't see them giving the title to Ziggler right before Wrestlemania. I think Ziggler/Punk will be like Rock/Mankind in '99 where Mankind just served to get The Rock over till his match with Austin at Wrestlemania.

As I said that was the last scheduled singles match, but with only 4 matches on the card, I wouldn't be surprised if there is another impromptu match maybe a Diva's match or an Intercontinental Title match, maybe Rhodes will take on Gabriel again.

Finally, the Main Event, the Royal Rumble match. Last year they had a 40 Man Rumble, this year they dropped it back down to 30, I don't know why, I liked the extra 10 guys, it means that someone who lost in the title match earlier, could enter the Rumble later that evening. But this year they are saying that it is open to any WWE Superstar. I don't know what that means other then maybe it's their way of explaining having no Royal Rumble Qualifying matched on Raw or Smackdown, IDK. I have yet to find a list of entrants, and maybe that's the idea. I'm sure we will see a good amount of surprise returns, probably Taker will come back. I'm really hoping that The Miz has a great showing seeing as he's entering at #1, it would be great for him to last to the Final Four. I expect Mick Foley to have one, maybe two eliminations and stay in for a good ten minutes before getting thrown out. So my Final Four are Randy Orton, Sheamus, The Miz & Chris Jericho. With Jericho winning the Rumble. And heading to Wrestlemania  to face CM Punk in an epic match for the WWE Championship.

An Open Letter To Jack Swagger

Dear Jack Swagger,

I'd like to start this off by stating that I am a huge fan. I think of just about every wrestler in the WWE right now, you have the most potential. With your background as an All-American wrestler, your size, and your age, there is no limit to how far you can go with the company. You've already proven that you have what it takes, winning your first World Championship after being in the WWE for only 4 months. You were the first Florida Heavyweight Champion, holding the title for 216 day, the longest reign since the title was introduced. When you held the World Heavyweight Championship, you defeated Edge, Jericho, Randy Orton and The Big Show. You have what it takes to be huge, and you've shown it.

So why am I writing this letter? I'm just going to come out and say it. As of late, you look a little lost in the ring. I know you have a lot on your mind, your wife just gave birth to your first son, congratulations by the way, I'm sure it's tough being on the road all the time with a three month old at home, but you're better then this.

I'm happy to say that your match with CM Punk last Monday was the highlight of the show, but let's be honest, that wasn't your best match. You need to be more aggressive in the ring, and I don't mean throw more punches, you need to tie people up with your amateur moves, make them hurt. What you need is a string of submission wins, just dominate a few people, establish yourself as someone with whom you do not mess. Look at Daniel Bryan, one of the smallest guys in the company right now, but he's holding the World Heavyweight Championship, going toe to toe with The Big Show, and you believe it, because ever since he got the the WWE he's been ruthlessly aggressive. That could be you, that should be you. That should be your fighting D Bryan for the title.

I love that they put you with Vickie, because she is a star maker. That means they know the potential you posses and they are ready to push you when you're ready. So come on, get your head in the game, and lets do this thing!!!

Raw Recap: Raw is Jericho Once Again.

Well the first Raw of the new year has come and gone, with varying degrees of success. Here's a quick rundown of my thoughts on the show.

Daniel Bryan vs Cody Rhodes. Champion vs Champion. I was looking forward to this match as the two have met before with great results. I felt like this wasn't their best match, even though it was pretty well put together, the ending seemed to come to suddenly.

Barrett vs Marella wasn't worth watching, nor was The Miz getting beat down by R-Truth when he could have had a great match and gotten beat down by Sheamus.

Next up was the match i was really looking forward to, CM Punk vs my new fav Dolph Ziggler. The match they had a few weeks back on Raw was fantastic and I had really high hopes for this one as well. And while it was a great match, it did fail to live up to the hype I had built up in my own head. I did like seeing Dolph leave with the belt, even though he didn't win it. I have no doubt that their match at the Rumble will be amazing, this will be Dolph's second World Championship Match at a Rumble in as many years, last years match was voted one the top 10 matches of the year.

The divas match was next, I don't know what happened because I fast forwarded right through that bitch.

Finally the moment we've all been waiting for, the return of...Jericho!!!

After a 15 month absence from the WWE, Jericho is finally back where he belongs doing what he does best. He didn't need to say a word, but it would have been nice if he had. Now we only have to wait until he makes the inevitable heel turn, because lets face it, that's the Jericho we all want to see.

The main event was pointless, I was a little hopeful when it came down to Cena & Ryder vs Swagger, I thought, oh, maybe they're going to give Swagger a little push, if he holds his own, maybe even eliminates one of them, and then I remembered that the WWE seems to be doing everything in their power to keep him down, which is not to say that he is blameless in all this, but i digress.

All in all it was a satisfying show, mostly because of Jericho's return despite all the evidence that it would be the Undertaker coming back.

P.S. With Ziggler now in a Championship match and out of the Rumble (unless they do another 40 man rumble) I am having to reconsider my pick. I'm eyeing Jericho, although I don't know who he would face. What are your thoughts?

TLC 2011 Results

From Baltimore MD, the WWE brings us the last PPV of the year, and it's sans John Cena!! This was a PPV I was really looking forward to, a lot of great matches set up, and it turned out to have some big highs, and some very low lows. 


Zack Ryder def Dolph Ziggler via Pin
6.7/ 10 What a great opening match, full of fast paced action and last minute counters. The crowd was really into this match, and deservedly so. In the end, I hate to see Ziggler lose the belt, but I hope this means he will be moving on ti bigger and better things, Royal Rumble anyone? 


Air Boom def Primo & Epico via Pin
5.5/10  Oh that's right, we do have Tag Team Champions. A Decent match, both teams seemed to work well together, not a whole lot more to say about this match that was added at the last minute. 


Randy Orton def Wade Barrett by RKOing him through a Table
7/10  This was a pretty good tables match, a lot of close calls, and some pretty unique attempts. The finish is really what gave this match the high score, Randy's laying on a table and as Barrett comes down off the top rope, Orton pops up and hits the RKO in midair, amazing. 


Beth Phoenix def Kelly Kelly via Pin
2/10 A lot of people think I'm too harsh on the Divas, to those people I say sit through this match, then say that to my face. This was on of if not the, worst match I've very seen. The start of the match is just complete, unrealistic crap, then the crowd is so quite, we can actually hear Beth yelling at Kelly when she misses her ques for a roll up and a counter. The fact that someone as talented as Phoenix has to get in there and babysit some one as hapless as Kelly Kelly is just sad. They better give me Phoenix vs Natty at WM28, they owe me after this match.


Triple H def Kevin Nash via Pin
7.8/10 This was one of the most brutal ladder matches I've ever seen, which was how we all knew it would go down, although you can't really compare this to other ladder matches, because the ladders were mostly used for beat downs. No one even attempted to climb a ladder for at least 10 minutes. The ending was sledge-tastic, yeah that's right, sledge-tastic. 


Sheamus def Jack Swagger via Pin
6/10 This was another last minute addition to the show and a pretty standard Sheamus match, which is in no way a bad thing. I would have liked to see Swagger get a win, since a loss wouldn't really hurt Sheamus, where as another loss keeps pushing Swagger down.


Big Show def Mark Henry via Pin
5.5/10  A pretty short match, and not the worst offering between the two men, I'm looking at you Survivor Series. Show hits a WMD pins Henry and wins his first World Championship in 9 years. Henry gets up, beats Show with a chair, then lands a DDT onto a pile of chairs which leads to.

N/A I wish I could rate this, because I liked it, and it would add to the overall score of the PPV, and while technically it was a match, there wasn't a single move applied, other then a pin. it was a good pin, should I rate the pin? IDK let me know in the comments.


So Daniel Bryan is our new World Heavyweight Champion. I really would have liked to see him wait and cash the MITB at Wrestlemania, but i am glad to see him have the belt.


Cody Rhodes def Booker T via Pin
6.5/10  They kept teasing us that this match might not happen, and I'm very glad it did as this is one of the matches i was really looking forward to. It was a good match and Booker T looked pretty good up until the end when he looked very winded and even had a hard time finishing the spin-a-rooni. In the end, Rhodes puts away a veteran as he takes one more step up the ladder and Booker T has a great one final match.


CM Punk def The Miz & Alberto Del Rio in a Triple Threat TLC Match
8.3/10  This was the best ladder match of the year. A ton of action, very innovative offence with the weapons, and has the best use of handcuffs in a match, ever. The ending is pulse pounding and works very well. 


6.14/10 All in all this was a really good show, that had just one really bad element that took it down. With 9 matches it's one of the fullest booked shows of the year. The crowd started hot but it seems like the got burned out after the opening match because they were very quiet throughout the rest of the show till the main event when they came back to life.

This is a new feature I've been thinking about doing for a little while now, it's all about documentaries, and older PPV's that should not be missed by any wrestling fan.

THE UNREAL STORY OF PRO WRESTLING - 1998


This is a documentary that aired in 1998 on A&E. It is narrated by Steve Allen and covers wrestling beginnings all the way up to the Monday Night Wars. Much of the current footage was shot in 1997 from both WWF and WCW.

It talks about wrestling as a legitimate sport post Civil War, but controversy and long match times killed it, only to be replaced with performers, who used to wrestle on the road in carnivals.  The carnival operators carved out territories for themselves and became promoters. In The 1920's The Gold Dust Trio of wrestler Ed "Strangler" Lewis, manager Bill Sandow and promoter "Toots" Mondt formed and they made wrestling what it is today, putting multiple, shorter, more exciting matches on one card. Mondt developed an array of flashy crowd pleasing moves, many of which are still used today. But it's popularity didn't last long when a scorned promoter spilled the beans about it being fake. But the late 40's saw wrestling's rebirth when it came to television.

There are so many legends talking about the old days, Lou Thesz, Harley Race, "Killer" Kowalski, Verne Gagne, Classy Freddie Blassie, The Fabulous Moolah, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, everyone in this. And they talk about the careers of some of the greats, like Lou Thesz, Gorgeous George, Buddy Rodgers, they ever talk about a man named Handsome Jim Londos, who wasn't very talented in the ring but was still able to get over with the fans, especially the women because of his good looks, now who does that sound like?

This is a great documentary and should not be missed, it is available on Netflix.

Goodbye John Morrison

In case you weren't already aware, John Morrison's WWE Contract expires Wednesday, which means Miz beating him down on Raw and 'injuring' him, will likely be the last we see of him for a while. I for one am not surprised that is came to this, I am disappointed in Morrison for several reasons. Here's the situation.

From what I've heard the issues surrounding Morrison started at Wrestlemania 27, when he blatantly snubbed Trish Stratus after their victory, she goes in for a hug, he subtly moves away. Rumor has it this was spawned by Melina who is dating Morrison, feeling snubbed by WWE because they picked Stratus instead of her. But you really can't blame them, because Melina is a talent-less hack, with a horse face, and Trish is a 7 time women's champion.

Right after the WM incident it comes out that Vince has no respect for Morrison because of the way he handled a situation in which Melina is said to have cheated on Morrison with Batista. Vince is said to have said that a real man would have fought Batista and ended it with Melina, Morrison did neither,

Morrison was also criticized for the way he wrestles, which looks more like he's performing and less like he's fighting, although I must say his match with Miz looked like a fight. It was said that Morrison would not win the WWE title, because of these things. And what did Morrison do? Did he stay and eat shit and work his way up from the bottom, like Triple H in 1996? No, left the company, most likely to join TNA where he'll probably become Champion within a year.

I'm not going to get into what I think about TNA, needless to say I have no respect for a company that would even allow someone to go out and compete in the condition Jeff Hardy was at Victory Road 2011.

I am just really disappointed in Morrison's character, or lack there of, to be so ungrateful of everything the WWE has done for him, and to still be with that skank, who blames everyone else for everything wrong in their lives. It's sad.

Who's Returning in 2012?

So, I don't know if you've been as annoyed as I've been when WWE became so obsessed with Twitter that they started showing an on screen marker of what Superstar, match or saying is trending. But on both Monday and Friday's shows, the one showing @WWE #Raw during Sheamus vs Jack Swagger and @WWE # Smackdown during Ryder & Sheamus vs Ziggler & Swagger, showed a lot of static, and a hidden message.

The message reads youtube.com/user/itbegins2012. That website shows this video:

The kid in the video says that "He" will return on the second day of 2012, which just happens to be a Monday, "To claim what's rightfully His."

So obviously someone is returning to Raw, but who? Undertaker is the first person on my mind, he normally comes back around Wrestlemania time, but he's in good health and may be coming back a little early. Another possibility and the one I personally hope to see is Jericho. He's talked about coming back at some point in time, he wanted to take some time off to tour the UK with Fozzy, but they have no tour dates for 2012, although they are currently planning a summer tour, plus Jericho has used secret codes and hidden messages to hype his arrival and return in the past. Another possibility however unlikely, is Batista. He left after WM 26, to go into MMA, although that never happened, he has since talked about returning to the WWE.

Survivor Series 2011 Results

Hey everyone, sorry it took me so long to get these up, right after the PPV last night I went right back on to Dead Island, I love that game.

Anyway as you know, last night was a the 25th Survivor Series, it was a huge night mainly because it marked the in ring return of The Rock after a 7 year absence from the WWE.

Dolph Ziggler def John Morrison via Pin
7/10 Great match to start the night, JoMo and Zig have contrasting style, Morrison being a flyer and Ziggler being a more technical wrestling, but they mix the two very well. The action is fast paced and spot on. This is also the first match of Ziggler's second back to back double booked ppvs, which I think shows how much faith WWE has in Ziggler, and rightfully so.

3/10 I'm being a little generous with that score, this match was one of the worst Divas matches of all time. This match redefines the bathroom break. The only saving grace was the Glam Slam from the top rope at the end.

Team Barrett def Team Orton w/ Wade Barrett & Cody Rhodes Surviving 
6/10 A Decent Match, it started pretty good, with Ziggler, but then Sin Cara flubbed a dive over the top rope and tore a patella tendon. It took quite a while for action to resume, and everyone on Orton's team seemed a half beat off for a little while. But they got back on track, and finished the match, it just lacked something.

Big Show def Mark Henry via DQ
5/10 Another match filled to the brim with punches, headbutts and rest holds. Henry retains the title with a swift kick to the groin.

CM Punk def Alberto Del Rio via Submission
7/10 Great match, but I was expecting better. It was technically sound, with great ring psychology, and told a good story. I didn't expect Punk to win, I thought after Del Rio put away Cena last month he would have held onto the title at least till TLC. They will have a return match at TLC, I  hope they get the TLC match.

The Rock & John Cena def The Miz & R-Truth via Pin
8/10 This was pretty much what I was expecting it to be, which is kinda of a let down. The Rock starts off to show that he still has it squaring off against both Miz and Truth, hitting moves lighting fast. Then Cena tags in, stays in for WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY to long, having the usual 'Cena get's beat down for 20 minutes but never gives up' match. Then Rock comes in cleans house and picks up the win.

Post match, a situation arose that would have been the perfect place for Cena to go heel, The Rock's in the middle of the ring, soaking up the cheers, Cena's walking up the ramp, leaving when Rock calls him back to the ring. Rock goes up the turnbuckle getting cheers, Cena goes up and gets boos. Cena should have embraced the boos, hit the AA & beat down the Rock, but no, Cena's a little bitch, so he just stands there with the look that reads "I'm embarrassed that everyone hates me, but i'm going to act like it doesn't bother me" and takes the Rock Bottom that EVERYONE knew was coming.

Survivor Series 2011 6/10 Not a bad PPV, one that will be remembered for a long time due to the Rocks appearance.

DVD Review WWE's Greatest Rivals: Shawn vs Bret

In case you've been living under a rock, or never bothered to learn the history of the WWE, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart had one of the most heated rivalry's, with some of the most amazing matches of all time, which ended in one of, if not THE most controversial moment in WWE History. This 3 disc DVD set tells the story of that rivalry.

Let me start off by saying that this is one of the best DVD sets WWE has ever put out. Disc 1 features a 2 hour interview conducted by good ol' JR in which both men talk about everything from getting to the WWE, starting off in the tag team division, and being friends as they broke out into singles. I will say this as a warning, if you like to believe everything that has been said about how personal this feud was, and how these guys really hated each other, then don't watch this DVD, because up till the end, they admit neither one really had a problem with the other. I won't give away to much, because it really is interesting to watch, I could have sat through a few more hours of them talking, and of course they do cover the Montreal Screw Job in great depth, about 45 minutes is spent on the back story then match and the backlash.

Another reason this is a great DVD set is the comprehensive extras, just about everything is included here including 2 tag team matches The Rockers vs The Hart Foundation, one from MSG the other from Tokyo. The Iron Man match from Wrestlemania 12, Champion vs Champion at Survivor Series 92, The Ladder Match from Wrestling Classic 92, and of course Survivor Series 97. as well as a lot of the promos mentioned in the interview, both men's induction into the Hall of Fame, Bret's return to Raw from 2010, and a really cool collection of the three of them talking between takes. The Blu-Ray has even more features.

All in all this is a definite buy, go out and add this to your collection now.

A Few Notes About Friday's Smackdown

I don't hide the fact that I'm a Monday Night Raw fan. I think it's got the best talent, has the better story-lines, and is consistently on a better level. But how good was Smackdown on Friday? I'll admit the promos from Mark Henry and Big Show where not on par with what you find on Raw, but the in ring action was top notch.

Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes in a Street Fight
What a match, these guys went at it for damn near 30 minutes, non stop. The match was exciting, very well put together, and even though the ending was a little predictable, there where quite a few times when I thought Rhodes was going to get the win. I've said it before, but Rhodes has been on the top of his game this year and this program with Orton should bring him up to the next level.

Ted Dibiase vs Tyson Kidd
These guys have been going at it on Superstars as of late, and have been having some good matches together, so it was nice to see them bring it to the show. Again, as you know, I'm a big fan of DiBiase, and even though he's had trouble in the past, he looked great in that match. In my eyes he's needed to step up the level of aggression in his matches, and I think he stepped up.

Sheamus vs Wade Barrett
I'm really glad that Christian wasn't able to compete after the choke slam, because it lets Wade Barrett take a big step in his career by going against, and getting a win from Sheamus.

Sin Cara vs Epico
I love that WWE is bringing back some cruiser-weight wrestlers, here's a little information about the new guys in case you didn't know. Epico is actually Orlando Colon, that's right, another Colon, Also known as Tito Colon, he's the cousin of Carlito and Primo. He and Hunico have teamed together before, they were 2 time Tag Team Champions in FCW where they were both masked competitors. I wish they'd kept the masks on when they came to WWE, I'm a bit of a purist, and if you're going to let Rey put his mask back on, after it was taken off in WCW, then let them keep theirs.

I skipped the Divas match, I'm not gonna lie.

Daniel Bryan vs Mark Henry
Every since D Bryan won Money in the Bank he's been on a steep decline, but it's not in any way his fault. WWE used how over he is, which his deserves, to push Sin Cara Negro, and even set up the Sin Cara vs Sin Cara. I don't think he's even won a match since MITB, and in my opinion, a big win over Henry would have kicked him all the way back up to the top, just like that. I really like how he's pledged to cash in MITB at Wrestlemania and I was super pissed when he almost cashed it in on Friday.

All in all this was a great episode, this ones going in the collection. I'll be back tomorrow, I've got a bunch of stuff lined up including a review of the DVD WWE's Greatest Rivals: Shawn vs Bret, spoiler alert- It's Amazing, and I'll also have a review of the biggest hyped show of the year, WrestleMania 27.

Another great show is in the books, filled with some great matches, and big surprises, enough with the intro, here we go.

Air Boom def Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger via Pin
5/10 Not as good as their match at HIAC, the pace has been slowed down dramatically by Swagger and Ziggler (or Zwaggler if you will) who dominated the majority of the match. In the end Ziggler takes Trouble in Paradise and Air Bourne for the loss, which leads straight to...

Dolph Ziggler def Zack Ryder via Pin
5/10 That's right, Ziggler's second match of the night. Ryder is on the offensive for the first half, until Ziggler gets his second wind and goes back to what he does best, dominate. I get why fans like Ryder, wait, no, I don't. He's goofy and his show is kinda funny in a really dumb way, but in ring he's just not that good, which really brings the score down, which sucks for Ziggler because he had two solid performances 

Beth Phoenix def Eve via Pin
6/10 Don't adjust your monitor, or get your eyes checked, I really did score it 6/10. I was floored by how good this match was. It's got great back and forth action, lots of high spots, some unique submission moves, and everything is pulled off really well. Eve really surprised me.

Sheamus def Christian via Pin
6.5/10 Much better showing then their HIAC opening bout. Christian takes a beating by Sheamus, but holds his own and even comes close to the win. Not much else to say, just a solid match.

The Miz & R-Truth def Triple H & CM Punk
7.5/10 Classic Tag Team wrestling by three guys who at the top of their profession, and R-Truth. I tease, but he actually looked pretty good during the match, everyone did. Punk and Trips seemed to be having fun working together as they joked around a bit in the first half. Kevin Nash returned through the crowd, attacking Triple H, which caused the distraction which cost Punk the match. Post match Nash power bombed  Triple H in the middle of the ring before retreating through the crowd.

Randy Orton def Cody Rhodes via Pin
7.5/10 Great match by two of the best. Fast paced action, solid storytelling, great ring psychology Cody Rhodes does two of the best looking moonsaults since Kurt Angle. This could be the match that pushed Rhodes to the next level, I can't think of a better person to help him get there. I look forward to this feud lasting a while.

Mark Henry and The Big Show Fight to a Draw
5/10 Coming in I had rather low expectations and for most of the match those expectations were met. It was very slow, lots of punches and headbutts and rest holds. As the match neared the end, the pace actually picked up, the opposite of what you'd expect with two big guys, and then, they lost me. Back in 2002 Big Show fought Brock Lesnar on Smackdown, Lesnar superplexed Show off the top turnbuckle, I think you know where I'm going with this. The exact same thing happened. The EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN. Exactly the same, the way the ring broke was the same, it just felt so cheap and rehashed. I agree that if any two guys could break the ring it would be Henry and Show, it makes a lot more sense then Show and Lesnar who came in around the same weight as The Rock.

Alberto Del Rio def John Cena via Count Out in a Last Man Standing Match
8.5/10 This was one of the best Last Man Standing matches I've ever seen, probably the best since Triple H vs Jericho at Fully Loaded 2000. The match starts inside the collapsed ring, and most of the action takes place there, but the unique layout makes for some very unique opportunities, such as Cena throwing Del Rio from inside the ring, into the crowd barricade. The match moves to the back for some big spots then back out to the arena for a great table shot and a solid finish. A little interference from The Awesome Truth sets up Cena's next feud but Del Rio's the one who keeps Cena down and gets a relatively clean win (I mean it is NO DQ).

6.37/10 Another in a long line of solid Pay Per Views from WWE this year (Capitol Punishment being the exception).

Elimination Chamber 2011 Review

Once again it's time to review a Pay Per View from earlier this year, today it's February's Elimination Chamber!

Alberto Del Rio def Kofi Kingston via Submission
5/10  This one starts out slow, but picks up the pace and ends up being very exciting. A decent start to the show, but it could have been better.

Edge def Rey Mysterio, Wade Barrett, Kane, Big Show & Drew McIntyre 
Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
8/10 Edge and Rey start and finish the match together and really bring the match up to the next level. Everyone involved really steps it up and the match is very well put together.

Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel def Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov via Pin
5/10 This is a fairly good match. As funny as Santino is, he and Kozlov really brought down the Tag Team Championships. Slater & Gabriel have great chemistry as a team and it makes sense why this is their third run as Champions.

There is no Divas match on the card, however a returning Trish Stratus does throw down with Lay-Cool, in 6 inch High Heels BTW, and even though she does show some signs of ring rust, it's still entertaining.

The Miz def Jerry Lawler via Pin to retain the WWE Championship
6.5/10 When I first heard this would be the title match, I cringed. Jerry Lawler is 61 years old, and the fact that in previous encounters Miz, The WWE Champion, has needed help from two other people to retain his title is just pathetic. Now, having said that, in this match Lawler doesn't look that bad for his age. Miz really puts him over, and in the end beats him clean.

John Cena def Randy Orton, R- Truth, CM Punk, John Morrison & Sheamus
Elimination Chamber Match for the No 1 Contender spot at Wrestlemania 27
8.5/10 JoMo and Sheamus, who had my favorite series at the end for 2010, start the match and click just like they have before. This match is big, brutal and amazing. R-Truth was clearly only in the match to fill it out as he only lasts 1 minute and 7 seconds, although he does pull of some decent moves in that time. Morrison clearly shines the brightest, starting the match and making it to the final three, and pulling of some of the most amazing moves in a Chamber match, including climbing to the top of the Chamber and crashing down HARD on Sheamus. It really is a shame Cena won, I would have much rather seen Miz vs Morrison in the Main Event of WM27.

6.6/10 Not surprisingly, this is the highest rated PPV so far, with no Divas match, and no really bad match to bring the score down.
